3rd Day Early Trends And 2nd Day Updated Worldwide Box Office Collections Of DABANGG 2 "Dabangg 2" started off well on Friday with record collections but2nd day ended with below par collections. Film failed to grow was one thing but a drop of 20%made it worse. This is a huge drop considering performance ofrecent no holiday releases like"Talaash" and "Khiladi 786". Sunday, 23rd December 02:50 PM IST DABANGG 2 Struggles Over Weekend "Dabangg 2" started off well on Friday with record collections but2nd day ended with below par collections. Film failed to grow was one thing but a drop of 20%made it worse. This is a huge drop considering performance ofrecent no holiday releases like"Talaash" and "Khiladi 786". Though excessive cold weather in north and India - England cricket match can be termed as possible reasons but still such a drop was never expected for Salman Khan starrer. Film collected 17.90 cr nett on Saturday taking film's 2 day total to 38.50 cr nett. Total is still very good but cracks are visible and one can hope for a huge Sunday to clear these doubts. Film failed to score from evening shows onwards and 2nd day total was lower than day one across the territories. This meansonly a Sunday with 26-28 cr nett can take it beyond 65 cr nett. Anything lower than this will be just good but not great. As per early trends on Sunday, film has shown sign of slight improvement in NCR, CI, CP and Rajasthan. But still huge jump is missing and that can happen in evening if it happens at all. Film isstruggling due to non performance in multiplexes. If film was affected by yesterday' cricket match then film will be hurt further by India Pakistan cricket match series starting on 25th December. This can hit film by 15%. Below are the collections for the film - Overseas Collections UK 01.90 cr USA 01.60 cr UAE 01.50 cr* Australia 00.98 cr* New Zealand 00.25 cr* Pakistan 01.00 cr Total Overseas Collections 11.23 cr Domestic Collections 1st Week Friday 21.00 cr Saturday 17.90 cr Total Domestic Collections 38.90 cr Total Overseas Collections 11.23 cr Total Worldwide Collections 50.13 cr.

Friday, 21st December02:30 PM IST DABANGG 2 Will Beat Non Holiday Opening Record by 50% As we reported in last few days,"Dabangg 2" has taken the nation by storm. Film will beat non holiday opening day record 15 cr nett plus of "Rowdy Rathore" by at least 50% and that is simply amazing. Film is super strong in NCR, CI, CP and Rajasthan. Due to cold wave, film is rather dull in UP, East Punjab and Bihar but likely to pick up as the day progresses. Except Mumbai, West Bengal and Mysore, film is heading for records in almost every territories and these territories might join the bandwagon by evening. Film will walk over 1st day opening day record easily and now only question remains how big will be the figure of day one, the new record. Film can not beat32 cr nett opening day record of"Ek Tha Tiger" which was holidayrelease but anything in excess of 22 cr will be superb. As per early trends, film will race past 20 cr nett for sure and goodevening/night shows will take it to magic figure of 25 cr nett. Going by the positive word of mouth, anything looks possible. Review: Dabangg 2 by Rediff.com *3/5 star.

S alman Khan has become the new Dharmendra [ Images ]. Don't get me wrong, I'm not blaspheming for effect. When I say 'the new Dharmendra,' I don'tmean the fine actor from Satyakam or Chupke Chupke , or even the ridiculously charming hero from Sholay [ Images ] . I mean the guy Dharam turned into later, when he became incorrigibly obsessed with canine blood. And that isn't necessarily a bad thing at all, given how fondly we look at even latter-day Dharam Paaji . It's good to know what to expect. The assembly line star-vehicles in Bollywood today are now nearly impossible to tell apart, and you could splice together a supercut from, say, Singham , Rowdy Rathore and Salman's latest, and the storytelling narrative would merge seamlessly. It's evident these movies aren't about anything but the person starring in them, and all that matters are punches and punchlines, both sadly unmemorable. Thing is, other actors play ridiculous, dated, larger-than-life characters. Salman, on the other hand, plays himself -- or at least a bizarre (or less bizarre?) screen version of himself. This is where the Dharmendra parallel kicks in. Khan's own persona, massaged by record-shattering blockbustersand his uniquely unapologetic lifestyle, is now larger than any character can be. And that, in itself, makes this film halfway entertaining. For a fan of the star in question, all that matters is whether the starseems to be having fun. In which case Dabanng 2 is just the ticket, since Salman looks to be having the time of his life. The film itself isbetter than the original -- or, to word it differently, is less unwatchable. And yet it has absolutely nothing new to offer, and nothing to remember, quote or take away from the theatre. The language in the dialogues is quite excellent, though: by which I mean the Hindi used in the UP-based film, and not the actual lines. Things begin with a Kanpur kidnapping, and since Khan's Aviator-collaring Chulbul Pandey lives there now, short work is briskly made of the kidnappers. The drill is remarkably unoriginal: a bigger bad guy shows up, Khan toys and teases him till the evil one snaps and hurts actors whose names we know, and thus we have a vendetta. Somewhere in the middle, naturally, Salman's sister-in-law shows up to boogie, and (thankfully) on an unrelated note, his shirt eventually comes off. End film. But Salman, thank heavens -- unlike any of the characters written for these -- is a goof. And that means his Chulbul Pandey giggles, sobs, prank calls his father, has an automatic pelvis-jiggling belt buckle, and plays volleyball with crooks. There are times, of course, where he looks far too old for the part. He's an embarrassment when dancing, and his torso is so oddly proportioned that his solid colour shirts look like they're inflated; there is a fair bit of hot air, to be sure. But all things considered, he wears the expressions unashamedly enough to make them work. His heroine is, like in the first film, Sonakshi Sinha [ Images ], who spends most of this film pouting. It is an unwise choice for a face that has become astonishingly round; the dupatta framing it fits her like the rim of an egg-cup. Shestill cannot act, not that it seemed ever a requirement. This film marks the directorial debut of Arbaaz Khan [ Images ], who will doubtless pat himself on the back for making more crores than the more mediocre original, and why not: his motives appear clear, and as an actor, he's actuallysurprisingly likeable as Pandey's simpleton brother. His wife Malaika appears briefly and looks significantly more captivating than Kareena Kapoor [ Images ], though the latter has a frustratingly catchy song. Inane, but catchy. Something about glue and bottoms, I believe. Super actor Deepak Dobriyal , shows up here in an uninteresting role he may have done for the leather jacket he getsto wear, but really, by now after Omkara , he should know better than to mess with the whole carrying-bride-from-altar situation. Never ends well for the guy. Prakash Raj [ Images ] is the main villain, and he's always good -- it'sjust that, unfortunately for us, he always gets to play the exact samebaddie in Hindi cinema. And he's never even allowed to lord it over the hero in case we start thinking less of our star. Tsk. Which means the infallible Chulbul Pandey -- after a movie riddled with painfully unsubtle product placement and odd public-service style dialogues made to convince villagers that women can get jobs -- climactically gets to beat up an ageing politician. And that's no battle compared to Khan keeping a straight face through very obviously (and atrociously) computer-generated shirtlessness, the first moments ofwhich just happen to be the film'sfunniest. Oh, and there is one decent line -- one referring to Chulbul as Kung Fu Panday -- but, quite like the time we spend watching this film, it's a throwaway. Rediff Rating:3 star

5 Reasons to watch Dabangg 2 today!

5 Reasons to watch Dabangg 2 today! Posted in : Bollywood Dabangg 2, arguably the year’s biggest release and the sequel tothe 2010 blockbuster Dabangg, releases in theatres worldwide. Below are 5 reasons to watch the film on the first day! 2 years ago, it was Dabangg that started the ‘Salmania’ all overthe country. Since then, Salman has delivered 3 back-to-back blockbusters, each breaking every previous box office record. Most people queuing up for tickets on Friday will be paying their hard-earned money to watch Khan as Chulbul Pandey. It will be interesting to see what the makers have in store, as the corrupt yet soft-at-heart cop is transferred to a metropolitan city. His post-marriage romance with Sonakshi Sinha is also something to watch out for. Arbaaz Khan’s first film as director: After a failed stint as an actor, Arbaaz takes on the directorial reins from Abhinav Kashyap. Several not-so-successful actors like Subhash Ghai and Rakesh Roshan, have been extremely successful behind the camera. Like Salman recently said in an interview, Arbaaz’s career is doomed if Dabangg 2 fails. Hit music and item songs: The Dabangg album had some of the best songs of 2010. Munni Badnaam Hui was a chartbuster that started the ‘item song’ trend in Bollywood. The Dabangg 2 songs too have topped charts. Kareena Kapoor’s Fevicol Se will be a major attraction for the masses. Action and comedy: Arbaaz Khan has promised a film with double dose of comedy and action. Watch the video below forthe best of Chulbul Pandey. The funny scenes and dialogues worked big time with the viewers and also gave the film tremendous repeat-value. Expect more of the same in the sequel. Prakash Raj: One of the best actors in India today, national award winning actor Prakash Rajplays the villain in Dabangg 2. He was brilliant in Wanted and Singham.

Review: Dabangg 2 by TOI 4/5 *Star.

DABANGG 2 Has Blockbuster Written All Over It Pluses: Salman Khan at his best, couple of songs, Prakash Raj is good as usual, Kareena Kapoor steals the show in those 5 minutes Minuses: Poor screenplay, action lacks punch, direction remains average Critic Rating: 4/5 Business Rating: 4.5/5 Verdict: Watch it for Salman Khan and sheer entertainment value Detail Analysis: First thing first, this is not a film for purist. This is not an entertainer which offers something new or showcases any outstanding stuff. This is simply a film which is all about one man - not He-Man or Super-Man but Salman. Film has very thin storyline and only shifts Chulbul Pandey from Lalganj to Bajaria Thana of Kanpur. And the worst part is that it lacks any touch of Kanpur as things look artificial throughout. Writing purely dependent on 1st installment and screenplay trembles throughout with lack of imagination and fear of failure. Except couple of funny sequences, everything has been entrusted to Salman. In terms of performances, Salman Khan delivers his one of the best entertainer acts and saves the film from being mediocre. He makes you laugh and keeps the adrenalin running for the length of the movie. His dialogues are good but his style lifts the scene. Film is strictly a showcase of his talent. Though you can't help feeling bad for him as he is weighed down by poor content and writing at places. Sonakshi Sinha as always fills the scenes like flower pot in the background of a painting. She is completely out of sort and sleepwalks. Only God can help her and her acting. Prakash Raj fits the bill for larger than life baddie but the problem is that helooks alien to the settings of Kanpur, a corrupt politician. Nevertheless he has some hilarious as well as intense shots with Salman. Deepak Dobariyal is good so is Nikeet Dheer but not as good as Sonu Sood whom he apes more than once. Mahie Gill and Vinod Khanna are average. Kareena Kapoor is show stealer in"Fevicol" and looks super hot. Malaika Arora Khan has guest dance appearance in "Paandey Ji Seeti Maare" which is adorable. Action sequences are average and again looks repetitive so are the songs. But "Fevicol Se" and"Paandey Ji" work due to great picturisation. Music of Sajid - Wajid looks pale in comparison to the original especially in theaters. Writing is pathetic to say the least and there is no effort to make things interesting. Debutant director Arbaaz Khan does a decent job but to be honest he gets in the copy cat mode. It seems that he is afraid of trying anything new and lifts songs and action from trusted sources. He virtually remains in sequel mode throughout. He should have taken reference from "Krrish" or "Dhoom 2" where sequels were one notch higher and offered something new too. Overall don't go with mammoth expectations and simply enjoy one of the biggest superstars in festival mood. It is a Salman Khanentertainer and it does entertain well. Smaller centers and loyal fanbase of star might feel bad as film is not very long but then good things do come in small packages. Only one thought in the end - Salman is ruling the boxoffice with his charisma but better films with better directors can deliver something memorable not just money making ventures. Go for this one only for Salman Dabangg 2.
